Josh, Lindsay, and Mackenzie

Well, the holidays are officially over, as the morning came too early and no Rakers wanted to rouse. Josh and I are back to work for our first full week of work in a few weeks and Mackenzie has started her new daycare (more on that in a minute).

Christmas was a good time, as it should be. Mackenzie got a ridiculous amount of presents from her friends and family (though none from her parents) so the living room is full of even more toys and books than it was before. Thank you to everyone who sent her gifts! She definitely has plenty to occupy her time. Doug and Theresa came to visit for five days so there was lots of food, shopping, and playtime for all. Mack didn't understand any of it yet, so we're hoping next year is going to be the fun "Intro to Santa" year (and maybe the first year Josh and I give her anything to open). :)

New Year's was also a good time. The three of us went to the Osborn house for food, fun, and games. Mack got to stay up a bit later (though not midnight) and then we spent the night. It was a great way to ring in the new year! On the first we also went down to the Science and Nature museum and since it was 1/1/11 admission was only $1! It turns out that was a good thing because she was still too young to really enjoy the museum. There is a kids section but that was overloaded so she only got to play with a few things before it was stolen or she was run over by a bigger kid.

Today marks Mackenzie's first day at daycare. She spent the last two weeks at home with Josh and I, and we've got her eating some more foods than she was before and tried to wean her off the morning nap (seriously, what one year-old needs two naps???) She'll only get one long nap in the afternoons at daycare, so we're thinking with enough activity and distraction she'll fall right to sleep at 12:30. She was not at all happy to wake up earlier than she'd grown accustomed to during the holiday break, but once she got to daycare she was very happy. She didn't seem to care at all that I left and instead went to grab a book and go read in the middle of the room. We'll see how she is tomorrow when she's figured out that when I walk out the door she's there until daddy picks her up in the afternoon.

So, that's the update. I'll try to post something tomorrow when we have a full day of daycare under our belt, and I'll try to post some pictures sometime this week so you can see all the fun that was had over the holidays.
