Well, now that Allison's birthday has passed (happy birthday Ali!), I can finally type the blog documenting the exact time it took for each stage of her quilt. There have been many a request for such a documentation, so here it is. Keep in mind that I have now used this pattern for three quilts so I am getting better and better at this particular pattern.
Total Time: 9.1 hours
Ironing quilt top fabric (pre-cut): 15 minutes
Cutting quilt top pieces (minus border): 1 hour
Sewing squares out of the triangles: 1 hour, 40 minutes
Ironing squares: 45 minutes
Sewing squares into rows, ironing rows, and sewing rows together and ironing: 2 hours
Cutting border: 15 minutes
Sewing border onto quilt top: 10 minutes
Basting, cutting, and preparing to quilt: 30 minutes
Quilting all three pieces together: 45 minutes
Final border (binding)and patch: 1 hour
Washing the quilt for extra fluffiness: 45 minutes
So, the finished quilt is about lap-quilt sized, which is perfect for sitting on the couch and watching T.V. (which is one of Ali's favorite activities). I'll try to do this with more quilts - but I always seem to forget! :)
